The faraday MPC-7000 was the first multi-loop panel actually designed and built by Siemens after they had acquired Faraday with Cerberus Pyrotronics. The MPC-7000 is/was not the workhorse that the earlier faraday panels were. There were/are several issues with the MPC-7000. First, the early 8700 detectors have problems in the cold. Wintertime ALWAYS comes with massive problems in the MPC-7000 detectors. Second, replacement parts are scarce. Third, power surges tend to take a rapid toll on the on-board surge protection circuits. It is a really good idea to make sure there is an external surge suppressor installed on all of these panels. Finally, NACs (Notification Appliance Circuits) tend to fail, fairly often, when compared to the older systems.
The MPC-7000 is an island unto itself. There was no reverse compatibility with any of the older faraday equipment, and there is no forward compatibility with any of the newer Siemens built equipment and systems. There is also no sideways compatibilty with any other Siemens equipment of the same era.
Compatibility issues and equipment problems have caused the prices of replacement parts to shoot, literally, for the moon. Repair parts are astronomically expensive and are getting harder and harder to find. The days of repairing these systems are very much numbered.
The sunset of the MPC-7000 marked the end of the line for the Faraday Brand.
